Through the Guru's Teachings, I have obtained the supreme status; my mind is attached to the Truth.

— Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 598

This insight from the first Guru speaks to a wisdom that transcends age. It perfectly sets the stage for today's story about a young boy whose profound understanding of life earned him a special place in the heart of Guru Nanak and in Sikh history.

🌟 1506 — The Birth of a Living Legend

The remarkable story of Baba Budha Ji, whose wisdom as a child earned him the blessing of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The Birth of a Living Legend

What if a child possessed the wisdom of an elder? In 1506, a boy named Bura was born in the village of Kathunangal, destined to embody this very idea and live a life of immense spiritual significance.

As a young boy, Bura had a profound encounter with Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He expressed a deep awareness of life's fragility, a thought process so mature that the Guru lovingly called him 'Budha' (the wise one). This name would define his long and impactful life of over 125 years.

Baba Budha Ji's life became a masterclass in humility and service (seva). He had the unparalleled honor of anointing five successive Gurus and was appointed the first Granthi (head priest) of the Harmandir Sahib. His legacy teaches us that wisdom isn't tied to age, and true greatness lies in selfless devotion.

His story asks us to look beyond appearances and recognize the potential for profound wisdom in everyone, young and old.
